Montevideo Public Schools is proud to introduce...
Montevideo Mosaic: Many Cultures, One Community
a district-wide initiative dedicated to celebrating the diverse cultural landscape that defines our town and school district. Just as a mosaic is created by bringing together many distinct, colorful pieces to form a cohesive picture; our community is created through the unique traditions, languages, and perspectives of every family. We believe that these cultural influences are not just small details but are central to how our students learn, communicate, and belong.
The Montevideo Mosaic event aims to bridge gaps and build connections by highlighting the backgrounds of all community members—including Dakota, Micronesian, German, Norwegian, Honduran, Mexican, and many others.
By recognizing that our differences are our strength, we foster an environment of mutual respect and collective growth.
To bring this vision to life, we are planning a community and school-wide culture fair to celebrate and embrace the rich cultures that make our community unique. Join us as we come together. With ideas such as:
Cultural Exhibits: Displays showcasing traditional clothing, art, artifacts, and photographs.
Entertainment & Performances: Live music, dance, singing, poetry, and storytelling to highlight the artistic heritage of our community.
Interactive Demonstrations: Engaging opportunities to learn traditional crafts like beading, lefse making, or painting.
Culinary Traditions: Sampling diverse foods and flavors from around the world.
Collaborative Community Art: A shared project where visitors can contribute to a multicultural art piece that will be permanently displayed in the district.
We invite local businesses, cultural organizations, and community leaders to join us at the table. Whether by hosting a booth, providing a performance, or sharing a family tradition, your involvement is key to making this event a success. Together, we can ensure that every member of the Montevideo community feels seen, heard, and valued.

Invitamos a empresas locales, organizaciones culturales y líderes comunitarios a unirse a nosotros.
