🌟Staff Spotlight!🌟 Next up in our staff spotlight is a familiar face in a new role! We are happy to welcome Sarah Jensen to her new position as our elementary school nurse!
Hello! My name is Sarah Jensen. I'm super excited for my new role as the school nurse for both Ramsey and Sanford elementary schools! I have always felt that taking care of and helping others is my calling in life. For the last two years, I worked as a paraprofessional at Ramsey Elementary School. I really enjoyed getting to know the students and staff, helping in the classrooms, and I'm looking forward to another great year providing health services to our elementary students and staff. I have four children: Autumn (20), Bryer (16), Christopher (15), and Emma (8). We love spending time outdoors together, whether it's fishing, gardening, grilling or just enjoying a good fire with smores. In my spare time, I enjoy taking care of my indoor succulent garden and baking.

My name is Cassie Nelson. I went to elementary school at Sanford and graduated from Montevideo High School. I received my teaching degree at Southwest Minnesota State University and became a preschool teacher. For 14 years, I have been dedicated and loved teaching young children, and like my preschool friends, I am excited to go to kindergarten! As my son heads off to college in Mankato, I look forward to a new adventure for myself. When I’m not teaching, I love getting outside to walk, bike, kayak, travel to national parks, and finding fun activities to do with family and friends. I hope to continue to help with the fabulous ECFE program in Montevideo and be a great addition to the already wonderful kindergarten team and staff at Ramsey!

The Montevideo Public Schools District Office will be closed from July 1, 2024, to July 5, 2024, for cleaning. Staff may be reached by email or phone.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Let’s get to know our Thunder Hawk staff!
We are proud to shine this week’s spotlight on Dustin Boyum, Elementary Music Teacher at Ramsey Elementary School. Dustin has taught five years at Montevideo Public Schools.
Dustin’s hometown is Lanesboro, Minnesota. He received a B.A. degree in Vocal Music Education from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota. Dustin’s family includes his parents, Nate and Sharon (his mom is a Montevideo graduate, Class of 1985), and two younger sisters, Heather and Janell. Some of Dustin’s favorite hobbies are going to Rock Fest with his family each summer, attending as many concerts as he can (NOT country concerts), reading a good book, golfing, and spending time with friends and family. A fun fact about Dustin is teaching runs in his family! It all started with Dustin’s grandpa, who taught math at the Montevideo High School for over 40 years. His mom is a music teacher, his sister Heather teaches PE, and his sister Janell teaches 4th grade. Dustin says, “It has been so rewarding being a part of the Thunder Hawk community that has meant so much to my family over the years. I’m grateful for the life-long friends I’ve made, being in the same community with a lot of family, and getting to work in the same building as my sister Heather and my aunt Allison.
