Hello Winter

Ready or not, WINTER is here! With the winter season upon us, we want to remind families to be prepared for cold, icy, and snowy winter weather. Here are a few tips to help your family plan ahead:

Stay Warm - Dress in layers, wear a hat, gloves or mittens, and boots to help prevent frostbite or hypothermia.

Stay Safe - Watch your step and be careful on slippery surfaces like ice and snow. Prepare your car with a winter survival kit with extra clothes, blankets, and non-perishable snacks.

Stay Informed - Monitor weather forecasts and school announcements for any late starts, early dismissals or closings.

  • Our schools use an automated notification system to communicate all weather-related announcements to parents/guardians and staff by call, text, and/or email using family contact information in the JMC Portal. Weather-related announcements are also posted on the school websites, social media sites, and on radio and television stations and websites.

  • Plan ahead for childcare in case of late starts, early dismissals or school closing.

  • The school district may use up to five e-Learning days this winter. On these days, students will continue their learning from home, using the school district's online platforms. Refer to your school's handbook for your student's e-Learning plan (handbook link on school websites).

Our goal is always to keep our students and staff safe, while minimizing disruptions to learning whenever possible. Thank you for partnering with us in making sure every child is cared for and ready to learn, no matter what the weather brings.
