CONTRACTED SERVICES: Online Family and Consumer Science (FACS) Instructor
Overview
The Minnesota River Valley Education Districts (MRVED) is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic instructor to provide contracted services to teach online Family and Consumer Science (FACS) classes. Online FACS classes are open to students across all MRVED districts, offering a flexible and essential educational experience.
Responsibilities
The instructor will be responsible for teaching three distinct FACS courses each semester:
Family and Teen Issues
Child Development
Food & Nutrition
The successful service provider will deliver engaging online content, assess student progress, and communicate effectively with students, parents, and MRVED staff.
Qualifications and Preferences
The instructor(s) providing the contracted services must be a Minnesota-licensed Family and Consumer Sciences teacher. Preference will be given to teachers with teaching experience in online instruction. Familiarity with the curriculum in Family and Teen Issues, Child Development, and Food/Nutrition is preferred, but not required.
Compensation and Contract Options
MRVED offers flexibility in contracting for this position, with two possible scenarios:
Contractual Basis: The instructor can contract directly with MRVED on a per-pupil basis, separate from any existing district contract.
District Workload Assignment: Participating school districts may assign the online teaching as part of a teacher's regular workload. In this scenario, the teacher's home district would charge tuition to the participating school districts within MRVED.
Application Process
Interested individuals are invited to submit a letter of interest outlining their qualifications and experience to Bruce Bergeson, MRVED, at email: bbergeson@mrved.net.
Please address your letter of interest and any questions to the contact listed above. We look forward to receiving your letter of interest and continuing to bring these valuable FACS courses to our students. Applications will be accepted and reviewed continuously until April 10, 2026. The MRVED reserves the right to close the position prior to the posted deadline if a suitable candidate is selected.
Substitute Positions
Substitutes are also needed for custodial, office personnal and school nurses. If you are interested in subbing in one of these positions, contact the District Office at 320-269-8833 or email: mamborn@montevideoschools.org.
