The 6th Annual Montevideo High School Career Fair is Monday, Nov 4th from 5-7:30pm. Stop in to visit with over 40 vendors including post-secondary + businesses in this "open house" style event. La Plazita will cater a free meal (sponsored by: Friendship Homes, Minnwest Bank, and the Southwest Initiative). Identify opportunities and what your student needs to prepare for multiple career fields.

The high school band and choirs will make their appearance in the first concert of the year tomorrow night! Please join us October 28th at 7:00 p.m. in the high school gym for a night of music! 🌟Staff Spotlight!🌟 Meet Danielle, Administrative Assistant at the Montevideo High School! Hi! My name is Danielle James. I spent my childhood living in Maryland, then later moving to Delaware. I moved to Montevideo in February 2020. While spending nearly twenty exciting years in the restaurant industry, I have found my career in Montevideo Schools the most rewarding and enjoyable. I have a 10-year-old stepdaughter, two snuggly dogs, and my husband Steven at home. I enjoy cooking, football, visiting my favorite place (Chesapeake City, MD), and crafting with my stepdaughter. 🌟Staff Spotlight!🌟 Meet Elizabeth, Title Interventionist at Sanford Elementary School! Hello, I am Elizabeth Geurtz. I joined Sanford Elementary School as a Title Interventionist in February of last year. I am originally from Montevideo and recently relocated from Spicer to be closer to my family and friends. Before my current role, I worked as a Lead Therapist at MN Autism Therapy Center. I am thrilled about this new phase in my personal and professional life. I have been married to my best friend, Bobby, for seven years, and we have two daughters, Margaret (13) and Opal (6). As a family, we enjoy spending quality time together watching movies, playing games, and preparing meals. We're proud to have Elizabeth on our team! #Hawk Pride #StaffSpotlight

🌟Staff Spotlight!🌟 Meet Whitney, one of our Small World Preschool Instructors at the Hawks Nest Early Childhood Center! Hello! My name is Whitney Sandven. I am a Montevideo Graduate. Years ago, I worked in Small World as Peggy's assistant! I have a degree in Early Childhood Education and four years of experience as a Head Start teacher and four years as a Small World assistant. After losing daycare, I became a stay-at-home mom. Three and a half years later, I'm excited to be back in a classroom! I have a 10-year-old, Breckon, and a 3-year-old, Amiah (who I'm lucky enough to have in my own class). One of my favorite hobbies is kayaking. I also enjoy gardening, canning, baking, creating things, sewing, hunting, camping, and ice fishing with my family. We're proud to have Whitney on our team! #HawkPride #staffspotlight

🌟Staff Spotlight!🌟 Next up in our staff spotlight is a familiar face in a new role! We are happy to welcome Sarah Jensen to her new position as our elementary school nurse! Hello! My name is Sarah Jensen. I'm super excited for my new role as the school nurse for both Ramsey and Sanford elementary schools! I have always felt that taking care of and helping others is my calling in life. For the last two years, I worked as a paraprofessional at Ramsey Elementary School. I really enjoyed getting to know the students and staff, helping in the classrooms, and I'm looking forward to another great year providing health services to our elementary students and staff. I have four children: Autumn (20), Bryer (16), Christopher (15), and Emma (8). We love spending time outdoors together, whether it's fishing, gardening, grilling or just enjoying a good fire with smores. In my spare time, I enjoy taking care of my indoor succulent garden and baking. We're proud to have Sarah on our team! #HawkPride

🌟New Staff Spotlight!🌟 We are excited to welcome Tanya Maethner to Montevideo Public Schools! Hello! My name is Tanya Maethner, and I am the principal at Montevideo High School. I'm happily married to my husband Kurt, and we have one daughter Addison, who is a freshman at the University of North Dakota. We added to our family by hosting four exchange students over the past ten years: Jannis (25), Mika (23), Luciana (18) and Lena (17). It's always been my plan to become a principal! One of my favorite aspects of education is getting to know high school students and watching them as they become their adult selves. 🌟New Staff Spotlight!🌟 We are excited to welcome Heather Goslee to Montevideo Public Schools! Hi everyone! This is my first year as the district nurse for the Montevideo School District. I am excited for this new journey in school nursing. I was born in Montevideo and raised on a farm near Madison, MN. I am married to Kyle, who is starting his 24th year teaching here in the Montevideo School District. We have two amazing kids, our son Jace and our daughter Drew. We live out in the country with our two dogs Bucky & Blaze. I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University. I have been a nurse for 12 years. I previously worked as an Oncology Certified Nurse in the Oncology/Infusion Department at CCM Health in Montevideo. Prior to working in oncology & infusion, I also worked in surgery, med/surg nursing, ER, and OB departments. Some of my favorites are: coffee, reading, baking, candles, Fall, and Christmas movies.
