Hello!
My name is Ramon Vega Jr. I was born and raised in Buffalo, Minnesota, where I attended Buffalo High School. I attended DMACC in Boone, Iowa for two years and played baseball for the DMACC Bears. I then transferred to Northern State University, Aberdeen, South Dakota. I have an older brother and younger sister. I have a 4-month old Golden Retriever puppy named Jeter. My hobbies are working out, playing baseball, or traveling around the world. I also love spending time with my family and Godson.
Go, Thunder Hawks!

📣ATTENTION MONTEVIDEO THUNDER HAWKS
🚧Just a heads up that the City of Montevideo is beginning road construction on Monday, August 24th on William Avenue (the street to the south of the middle school and high school). The road will be partially torn up and resurfaced over the course of the next 30 days. The portion of William Avenue that they will be working on will be between Cty Rd 15 and S 17th Street.
This will make the Back-to-School Workshops, Open House, and Orientation next week a little less fun to travel to, but the road and access to the middle school drive and parking lot will remain open while they are doing road construction. Slow down and drive careful!

Help us give a warm Thunder Hawk welcome to our new Director of Teaching and Learning, Brandon Raymo! We are excited to have Brandon on our team! Go, Thunder Hawks!
#Welcome #NewStaffSpotlight
A little about Brandon...
While I have had the privilege of coaching baseball in the district for the past 14 years, I am honored to step into a new leadership role as the Director of Teaching and Learning for Montevideo Public Schools. Following 15 years as the Assistant Director of the Minnesota River Valley Education District (MRVED), I am thrilled to transition into this position. I look forward to collaborating closely with Montevideo’s exceptional instructional staff to support our educators and directly enhance student achievement across our community.
Montevideo has been home to our family for the past 15 years. My wife, Katie, a 2001 graduate of Montevideo High School, serves as the Program Processing and Compliance Specialist for MRVED. We are the proud parents of three children. Adelyn, who is a recent graduate of Montevideo will be attending Minnesota State University in Moorhead where she will be exploring the field of exercise science as a physical or occupational therapist. Gretta will be an 8th grader and is active in volleyball, basketball, track, and band. Eli will be a 4th grader and enjoys all things sports.
In addition to my administrative duties, I am entering my fourth year on the coaching staff for the boys' basketball team, having recently concluded a 14-year tenure as the junior varsity baseball coach. Outside of school and athletics, our family enjoys spending time at Lake Villard, attending local sporting events, and catching Savannah Bananas baseball games whenever possible.
I am deeply grateful for this opportunity and look forward to officially serving our schools as a full-fledged Thunder Hawk!

On July 21st, Native Culture Club joined other local youth to help artist Malena Handeen paint pebbles on her beautiful mural outside the library downtown. The mural project is part of the non-profit Montevideo Creatives’ effort to foster a vibrant and welcoming community in our city.
Earlier this spring, students got to meet with Handeen and Montevideo Mural Project Director Rebeka Louise during Native Culture Club’s after-school program to talk about plants and animals they feel define our local landscape. We’re so grateful to have had the opportunity to be involved and can’t wait to see the finished mural!

📢 2026–2027 School Supply Lists Are Now Available!
Attention Montevideo Public Schools families! The 2026–2027 School Supply Lists are now available online for all grade levels. You can easily view and print your student's list directly from our school websites.
💻 How to Access the Lists:
1. Visit the district website at: https://www.montevideoschools.org/ and select your school from the dropdown menu.
2. Select the "School Supply List” quick link button on your school’s homepage.
3. View, download or print the school supply list.
⚠️ Important Update Regarding Supply Kits
Please note that Montevideo Public Schools did not partner with an online school supply kit company this year. In evaluating our programs, we found that the percentage of total orders placed through these services in past years was too low to justify continuing the partnership.
By providing the lists directly to you now, we hope to give everyone plenty of time to shop local sales and find the best deals for the upcoming year!
